Photographed by Leah Kathryn Photo, Blaire and Chad’s May 28, 2025 wedding was not your typical mountain elopement—it was an extravagant, deeply personal, and adventure-filled celebration set high above British Columbia’s rugged terrain. For a couple who call Pemberton home, tying the knot atop Ipsoot Glacier was the perfect fusion of their love for nature, travel, and one another.

A Sunrise Proposal in Fiji

The journey to “I do” began with a 3 a.m. boat ride under the stars. While on a trip to Fiji, Chad surprised Blaire with a private sunrise hike on Naviti Island. “We hiked 10 kilometers through small villages and up beautiful hills with cows,” Blaire shared. “At the summit, Chad asked our guide to take a photo of us, and that’s when he got down on one knee. Even the guide was surprised!”

Although the clouds hid the sunrise, the views of the South Pacific’s surrounding islands made for a breathtaking setting—and an unforgettable proposal.

A Helicopter, A Glacier, and a Private Chef

Their Whistler Glacier elopement started with a helicopter ride to the summit of Ipsoot Glacier, where the couple toasted with champagne and freshly shucked oysters. After the ceremony, they returned to their suite at Nita Lake Lodge, a favorite local getaway spot, where a private chef prepared a custom dinner featuring all their favorite foods.

The menu? “Oysters, scallops, spot prawns and charcuterie…heirloom tomato salad with burrata… and for the main we had a 50oz tomahawk steak with mac and cheese, pomme aligot, and roasted local veggies.”

When the Cake Went Missing

Among the many unforgettable moments was one that nearly ended in disaster: their golden retriever, Macaroni, devoured half the wedding cake. “We spent the rest of the evening in sheer panic and didn’t sleep a wink,” Blaire recalled. “Luckily, Macaroni was totally fine and we enjoyed some of the salvaged cake the next day! Lesson learned!”

A Dress That Sparkled on the Summit

Blaire wore the “Claire” gown by Polish designer Agnieszka Światły, a glittering, floral-detailed masterpiece from Luxx Nova. “It was glamorous with a bit of edge. I wanted sparkle but not too much—and this dress was perfect.”

Meaningful Details

One of the most touching details was the centerpiece of their dinner table: a mix of fresh, summery flowers and dozens of wine corks—each one saved from bottles shared during meaningful moments throughout their eight years together. “During dinner, we talked about all our favorite memories when we shared those bottles.”

Advice for Future Brides
